TF145 | Spouses | Big Sky, MT

A note from the Task Force Director…

Task Force number 145 was a truly amazing week. The weather was perfect; we enjoyed skiing with fresh powder, snowmobiling, and a much-needed self-care day for six of the most deserving women I’ve ever met. Strong bonds and a true tribe formed during this week that will last us all throughout our lives, of which I have no doubt. Thank you to the amazing donors who made this week possible, to the volunteers who gave their all during this week, and last but not least, to the amazing women who trusted us with their hearts and made the most of precious time spent away from their families.

I love you all.

“Words cannot fully express how grateful I am for the opportunity to experience a week with Big Sky Bravery.

It sounds cliché, but it was truly the best week of my life.

From the amazing women I met to the selfless support from the volunteers, every person on Task Force 145 radiated kindness, strength, and positivity in all of their own ways. This week truly came at a time in my life where I really needed to gain some clarity on some heavy decisions at home and my time at Big Sky Bravery gave me that. I will treasure the genuine connections, the breathtaking surroundings and unforgettable experiences forever.

“My time at BSB was truly a dream. It felt as if our entire task force had been hand-picked because we just clicked. The week was full of once-in-a-lifetime opportunities, and every moment felt special. The weather was nothing short of magical—snowing every single day, creating the perfect backdrop for adventure. Skiing and snowmobiling awakened a fierce lioness inside each of us. We weren’t afraid to push our limits, try new things, and give it our all. What made it even better was the unwavering support from each other and the amazing volunteers who were with us every step of the way.

I have never felt more seen or appreciated as a military spouse.

The connections we made, the laughter we shared, and the memories we created will stay with me forever.

-S.”

“Hands down the BEST week of my life!! Big Sky Bravery far exceeded my expectations!

I have never felt more seen, understood, and safe as a military spouse. BSB gave me the opportunity to deeply connect with other military spouses in a way that was real and raw.

Discovering along the way that women are so much better off when we build each other up and support each other with open ears and understanding. Our vulnerability is not weakness but rather a show of courage and strength. All week I felt welcomed and appreciated and with this was able to develop a deep connection with each spouse and volunteer. I am forever grateful for the opportunity BSB gave me and thank every single person in the entire organization.

“I’ve taken some time to reflect on my experience with Big Sky Bravery TF #145, and I wanted to share just how deeply this trip has impacted me. I came into this experience with a positive outlook, knowing the itinerary and expecting a great time; but what I walked away with was something far greater than I ever could’ve imagined.

This task force gave me so much more than I realized I needed.

From the moment we arrived, I felt a sense of belonging I haven’t felt in a long time.

I found myself stepping outside of my comfort zone trying new things, making unexpected connections, and saying “yes” to experiences that pushed me in the best ways. Learning to ski, snowmobiling for the first time, laughing through the most fun yoga class ever, and soaking in a relaxing well-planned wellness day. Each part was truly exhilarating, meaningful, and unforgettable. The bonds formed, the crying sessions we shared, jokes and innuendos, and the pure joy we felt together are memories I will carry with me for the rest of my life. My only fear moving forward is losing that connection in the chaos of everyday life. But knowing how special it is, I’m committed to making the effort to keep it alive and to continue nurturing the friendships and community that made this experience so impactful.

It’s not easy to find that kind of connection especially in this unique world of being a spouse in the SOF community, and I feel so incredibly lucky to have found it through Big Sky Bravery.

As I think about the lasting impact this experience will have on me, I honestly don’t know how to put it into words because the answer is a better question, how did it NOT change my life forever?

I walked away from TF #145 with a sisterhood I never knew I needed. I’ve never felt so heard, so seen, or so supported. The volunteers were some of the most beautiful-hearted women I’ve ever encountered, and my fellow SOF spouses felt like lifelong friends from day one. There’s something sacred about the kind of connection that forms when you’re surrounded by people who just get it…who carry similar stories, humor, and hearts. It’s rare. It’s powerful. And it’s something I’ll never take for granted.

When I think about my favorite memory from TF #145, I find myself at a loss not because I don’t have one. This is because the entire experience feels like one complete, sacred memory.

Every laugh, every shared tissue, every first-time moment and vulnerable conversation wove itself into a single, unforgettable story.

It was imperfectly perfect and raw, real, and beautiful in all the right ways. There was no single highlight because the trip itself was the highlight. It felt like being handed a keepsake box filled with joy, healing, courage, and connection all tied up with a bow I’ll never untie, because I want to hold onto this forever.

That’s what Big Sky Bravery gave me: a living, breathing memory I get to carry in my heart always.

To the entire Big Sky Bravery organization, the phenomenal team behind the scenes, and most importantly the generous donors who make this mission possible: thank you.

Thank you for believing in the importance of this work.

Thank you for creating space for people like me to breathe, to bond, and to heal. You plant seeds of hope, belonging, and renewal in the lives of those who often carry more than they show.

I hope you know that your giving isn’t just a donation, it’s a lifeline.

It’s laughter in a time of heaviness. It’s community in a life that often feels isolated. It’s a reminder that we are not forgotten. You may never fully see the ripple effect your generosity creates, but I hope you know this, it is profound. It is personal. It changes lives.

You changed mine.

With all my gratitude,

S.”

“Big Sky, Montana: A Trip That Will Go Down in the Books Forever Wow – “amazing,” “awe-struck,” and “rejuvenating” are just a few words to describe my incredible experience on the Task Force Spouse Trip to Big Sky, Montana. We were welcomed with warm hugs and care when we arrived at the Bozeman airport. The team took care of everything—our luggage, transportation, and delicious meals—making us feel at home and loved from the start. We were blessed with beautiful weather, as it snowed every day we were there, creating a winter wonderland that felt straight out of a dream. I was in awe of the incredible weather we were blessed with. Big Sky Resort was absolutely stunning, with majestic peaks surrounding us at every turn. Skiing in powder was an experience I’ll never forget, and we also had the chance to snowmobile through gorgeous white-covered valleys, taking in the breathtaking scenery. But what made it all even more special was the time we spent together as a group, sharing family stories and laughter. A personal highlight was our relaxing spa day, complete with private massages, reflexology, and yoga. I’ll admit, I might have secretly signed up for the trip just for the massage! It was a peaceful and rejuvenating experience, and I felt so grateful for the opportunity to unwind and recharge.

But perhaps the most meaningful part of this trip was the deep sense of community and connection we shared.

We gathered with newfound friends each night, sharing our joys, struggles, and everything in between. There was something truly powerful about opening up and carrying each other’s burdens. I genuinely believe God’s divine intervention brought us all together for this trip. The harmony of our personalities, the support, and the understanding among us were truly beautiful.

It reminded us that we are never alone and that we can overcome anything through faith and friendship.

The food was another standout experience—every meal was absolutely delicious, and I felt cared for. Amber and Jackie went above and beyond to create beautiful, mouthwatering charcuterie boards for us daily. These thoughtful touches made each moment even more special, and we all looked forward to these little indulgences. Every meal was a reflection of the love and effort put into making us feel welcome and appreciated. The leadership and care provided by Jackie, Mandy, Amber, and Desek made this experience so much more than just a trip. Jackie worked diligently behind the scenes to make everything run smoothly, while Mandy’s unwavering confidence and love led the way for us all. Amber, a first-time task force participant and donor, brought so much positivity, and Desek was there for us every step of the way, spoiling us with her kindness. They went above and beyond to ensure we felt loved, supported, and uplifted throughout the trip.

As I reflect on this experience, I’m filled with a deep sense of gratitude—not just for the beautiful scenery or the fun activities, but for the people who made this trip unforgettable.

I am beyond grateful for my friendships, the love and encouragement we shared, and how we all came together as a community. I truly believe this trip was a gift, and I give God all the glory for the amazing people I had the privilege of spending this time with. This trip was not just about skiing, snowmobiling, or even massages—it was about coming together as a group, growing in faith, and walking through life’s challenges and victories side by side. I will carry these memories with me forever, and I am so thankful for this once-in-a-lifetime experience. I am deeply indebted to, and beyond words in expressing our heartfelt thanks to, the generous donors who made this incredible opportunity possible. Your financial support allowed us to experience six days of care, adventure, and true connection. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. I pray that many blessings come upon each of you as you continue to give selflessly. Your generosity has touched our lives and created lasting memories and bonds that will continue to strengthen us. May you be richly blessed for your kindness and willingness to invest in others. A heartfelt thank you to Big Sky Bravery for your incredible support of our military community. Your selfless service to military families reflects God’s love, and I am deeply grateful for your unwavering commitment to those who serve. This experience would not have been possible without you, and I pray God richly blesses your efforts as you continue to serve and bless others. "You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand." – Psalm 16:11This is the verse the Lord led me to meditate on during my time in Montana, and it beautifully encapsulates the joy and peace I experienced throughout this trip. Again! May God get the glory for this incredible journey and the beautiful community He brought together.

“Big Sky Bravery gave me something I didn’t know I needed—a space to breathe, decompress, and connect with women who truly understand the unique challenges we face as spouses of Special Operations service members.

Snowmobiling through the breathtaking Montana wilderness, surrounded by mountains and laughter, brought a joy I hadn’t felt in a long time. From adrenaline-filled moments to deep, healing conversations, this experience was a gift. I left with lifelong friendships, a renewed sense of peace, and deep gratitude for the volunteers, the organization, and the generous donors who make these Task Forces possible.

-L.”
