“What an amazing week! We’ve just returned from 6 jam-packed days in Big Sky, Montana. Scott went to his first Task Force in 2022, then Melissa went to hers in 2023, and we were so excited to include our whole family in this Task Force.

Scott learned to ski during his TF, and being able to share the grand scale and challenging terrain of Big Sky with the rest of the family was amazing. We skied for two days. Having Melissa and Maddy ski down their first full, green run was awesome. They overcame their fears and uncertainty, and watching them link turns was inspiring.

Our second skiing highlight was Scott, Logan, and Stuart skiing off the summit of Lone Mountain. They took Liberty Bowl off the very apex, linking turns and hooting and smiling all the way down. Seeing Stuart tackle this intimidating route after skiing for just a few years was so fun.

Other highlights of the week included dog sledding, snowmobiling, delicious food, rugged landscapes, and friendly people.

We are so thankful for BSB and the wonderful donors who make it possible. This Family TF came at the ideal time. Scott returned from a deployment last year and jumped straight into a challenging position stateside. Logan (our oldest) is getting ready to head across the country for college next year. Being able to spend this time together, building family bonds and memories was such a treat for our SOF family.

Knowing there are people who realize the importance of our SOF mission, and the toll it takes on families, is comforting and inspiring, and we will be forever grateful for this magical week in the rugged, snowy mountains of Montana.
