Anna Vancleeve | Volunteer Spotlight

Watching these women, who are so used to carrying the weight of the world, open up and support one another is a powerful reminder of why BSB exists.

THIS MONTH’S VOLUNTEER: Anna Vancleeve

BIG SKY BRAVERY WOULDN'T BE WHAT IT IS TODAY WITHOUT THE HARD WORK AND DEDICATION OF OUR VOLUNTEERS. TO CELEBRATE THEIR GENEROSITY & INTRODUCE YOU TO SOME INCREDIBLE INDIVIDUALS, WE INVITE YOU TO READ OUR MONTHLY VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT!

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN VOLUNTEERING FOR BIG SKY BRAVERY

I’ve been a volunteer with Big Sky Bravery since 2021, and I’ve had the honor of completing two Task Forces. Each experience has been uniquely powerful, giving me the opportunity to connect with some of the most selfless and courageous individuals I’ve ever met.

WHY DO YOU VOLUNTEER FOR BIG SKY BRAVERY?

I volunteer for BSB to give back to the men and women who serve and protect our freedom. This is my way of showing gratitude—not just with words, but through action. It’s an honor to create a space where they can breathe, be vulnerable, and experience the healing power of Montana.

WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST IMPACTFUL MOMENT FOR YOU SINCE BEING INVOLVED WITH BIG SKY BRAVERY?

The most impactful moments always come during our nightly questions—when walls come down, and real conversations happen. It’s in those quiet moments of honesty, vulnerability, and shared experiences that true growth takes place. Watching these women, who are so used to carrying the weight of the world, open up and support one another is a powerful reminder of why BSB exists.

HOW DOES OUR MOTTO “GIVE MORE THAN YOU TAKE” APPLY TO YOUR LIFE?

As a mother, this is woven into my everyday life. I pour into my children, guiding them, supporting them, and showing up for them in every way I can—so they grow up to be kind, resilient, and compassionate humans.

WHAT DO YOU NO LONGER TAKE FOR GRANTED AFTER SPENDING TIME WITH THE SOF COMMUNITY WE SERVE?

Quality time with my family. The men and women we serve sacrifice so much—time, relationships, and moments they can never get back—all in the name of duty. Seeing firsthand what they give up has given me perspective on what matters most.

WHAT JOB TITLE DO YOU HOLD OUTSIDE OF BEING A BIG SKY BRAVERY VOLUNTEER?

Outside of BSB, I’m a mother of three, wife, and work in photography and interior design.

FINISH THIS SENTENCE, “WHEN I’M NOT VOLUNTEERING WITH BSB, YOU’LL FIND ME…”

Watching my kids play sports, spending family ski days at Big Sky, soaking up Montana summers on Hebgen Lake, or hiking around Bozeman with my two doodles.
