THIS MONTH’S VOLUNTEER: MITCH IMMENSCHUH
BIG SKY BRAVERY WOULDN'T BE WHAT IT IS TODAY WITHOUT THE HARD WORK AND DEDICATION OF OUR VOLUNTEERS. TO CELEBRATE THEIR GENEROSITY & INTRODUCE YOU TO SOME INCREDIBLE INDIVIDUALS, WE INVITE YOU TO READ OUR MONTHLY VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT!
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN VOLUNTEERING FOR BIG SKY BRAVERY
I became a volunteer in 2022; I have completed two Spouse Task Forces.
WHY DO YOU VOLUNTEER FOR BIG SKY BRAVERY?
I have volunteered with many organizations, but BSB feels like the most impactful. In serving this community, I lend support and perspective. Witnessing these amazing ladies build confidence skiing or taking charge on snowmobiles, all while having fun and bonding, is incredibly fulfilling. I love staying in touch, meeting their families when they return, and continuing to show them civilians we give a damn!
WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST IMPACTFUL MOMENT FOR YOU SINCE BEING INVOLVED WITH BIG SKY BRAVERY?
I think seeing the groups come together and the participants transition from a sense of isolation to a sense of unity and support. It surprises me that these folks give so much and then are blown away by the generosity of the Big Sky Bravery program.
HOW DOES OUR MOTTO “GIVE MORE THAN YOU TAKE” APPLY TO YOUR LIFE?
I love the book the Go Giver and find you receive more in life from what you give than what you get. It inspires me to stay grounded and focus on things that really matter.
WHAT DO YOU NO LONGER TAKE FOR GRANTED AFTER SPENDING TIME WITH THE SOF COMMUNITY WE SERVE?
Our Freedom and the Sacrifice these soldiers and their families make ever day for our nation and way of life. Although my grandfather and father served in the military, my dad-to-day life is far removed from the stress and rigors of active-duty SOF families. For these folks to know that we care and honor the work they do is important!
WHAT JOB TITLE DO YOU HOLD OUTSIDE OF BEING A BIG SKY BRAVERY VOLUNTEER?
Wife, mother, and managing broker of Big Sky Sotheby’s International Realty.
FINISH THIS SENTENCE, “WHEN I’M NOT VOLUNTEERING WITH BSB, YOU’LL FIND ME…”
